Prayers Are Answered

Here I am learning that all prayers are answered, no matter the wait.
There is an investigator that has been an investigator for 7 years, his family is active he is active he pays his tithing and everything the one thing that stops him is the WOW, and he gave up hope. He still went to church but he didn't believe that he could get over it but now he his sick and has to take so many pills that if he even tried to mix them he would probably die. So now he is getting baptized and he even tasted a cigar just to see what would happen and he said it was gross and threw it out. We are now going over the steps of true repentance, and told him that after he is baptized he starts a new life, and he will have the power to never go back, though the power of the Atonement. There is a lot of stories like that here. They wait so long but I am blessed to see it come to a reality. It is crazzzy I love it.
Also I remember a prayer I had when I was a little kid about how I want my life to be an adventure and I realized that that has totally come true. China, England, Hawaii, Philippines.
Thursday, realized I am a huge JERK. This one kid always comes up to us to sell us stuff and bothers us about where a member is but we never know because she only lives here when she has money to go to school. So we brush her off but at night she came up to us and was totally humble and asked us again and asked for a Book of Mormon, and showed us her house, really small and said that the member had taught her the first lesson and she wanted to learn more.... She was just fighting to have us come teach her but only when she stopped shouting did we listen.
Also we had an emergency, someone was following us and we had to stop by this BBQ stand and the only thing there was one day old chick, chicken head, Chicken intestine, or a pig ear. I ate PIG EAR. It reminded me when I went with dad to visit teach a lady in Indiana, and she asked me to feed her dogs pig ears and I didn't believe her until she handed me a legit pig ear and back then it was for dogs....

Food in the Philippines (with links to recipes)

Awesome thing that happened to us this week - we taught an investigator about the Atonement and afterwards she said she felt better.

We also helped a recent convert that has had hard times with her friends asking about her religion and we told her to just share her testimony.

Talked to our recent convert family about how to have family home evening, that was cute.

Shared a really good scripture with a less active - 2 Nephi 8:8.

On Sunday, had a good long dinner with our elders quorum president that has some funny stories about his mission. hahah and he taught us the word for twinkling. kumikisap-kisap ya that is hard hahha

So one elder told us this week we live in the Oklahoma of the Philippines. hahah and it is true we have fields. When people think of the PH, they think, Oh wow there is a beach! Nope, our mission is the only mission in the PH that doesn't have any beach front properties. hahah But we do have islands - they are houses in the seas of rice and the next door neighbor is the next island away. hahah

A list of things that I eat on a daily basis:

Sister Perkins sent this recipe:
ADOBO ALA DIOLA

4 lbs chicken pieces
1 onion quartered
4-6 cloves garlic
1 Tablespoon oil
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 teaspoon black peppercorns
1 tablespoon vinegar
Place ingredients in container to marinade at least 2 hours.  Move onion and garlic to a pan and sauté.  Add chicken, marinade and if necessary water and continue to cook until chicken is done.  Season with Laurel leaves.  ¾ cup brown sugar is optional.

Thoughts on Conference and Lots of Pictures!

Some of Sis. Perkins' notes about General Conference:

-I thought it was cool the opening by the Prophet and how General Conference is like a big family home evening. That was cool.

-I liked how most of the Conference was about standing up for what is right, no matter what, because if you don't the outcome will be desolation.

-How little kids need to be taught because if they fall away later in life, the Spirit will bring it back up. That was kinda mind blowing.

-About families, I wrote down: "Having parents rocks. Why deny the next generation that coolness?"

-Faith is the opposite of fear, and what is God's objective?

-We do all these things out of love for our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and then they give us strength so we can stand up.

-If we don't stop praising God, we can change the world.

-I liked how Teh said Heavenly Father knows our true potential and if we just follow his plan, we will be happier. So we need to live to the fullness.

-In the end it was a lot about how to be a disciple of Christ and to just be kind to others and respect everyone. Heavenly Father loves us so much.

Looking Forward to Conference

This week was good
Saturday went to the next town over to see the women’s conference, it was good, but we got a text at 3 in the morning to say oh ya by the way there is a broadcast. So we had to inform everyone last second and in the end only missionaries came, ahaha
Sunday everyone was gone, it was graduation, graduation parties, vacation, going to find jobs, moving back home, ya so punted but we had a good long lesson with the Jaramillo family, and started to teach the grandkid of a less active. So that she will go with her grandma to church or at least conference.
Yes we do watch Conference. It will be nice. I love conference. Because it is a rebroadcast we see all the sessions just a week late because it comes with a Tagalog version too but most people like the English version because they can hear their real voices.
After this I have 5 more transfers so about two more areas we figure. Which is weird. This transfer day was different because a lot of people have been in our zone for like evers and they are still staying in.
This little girl is Donita. She is so cute. She sells veggies all on her own as her mom sells other things in the Palenke market. That family is really cool. The kids are so responsible but they are still kids that giggle and play.
